- What problem are we solving?
Muslims are struggling with an over-attachment to the temporary distractions of this world (Dunya), leading to a detachment from Allah, forgetfulness of the life Hereafter, misinterpretation of life’s tests, and falling into hopelessness or Shaytan’s traps when they commit sins.
- Why are we doing this?
Without understanding the Hereafter as their true destination, youth risk making life choices driven purely by worldly desires, losing their Islamic identity, doubting Allah during hardship, and allowing guilt or hopelessness to keep them from returning to Him through Tawbah.
- What transformation are we aiming?
A complete mindset shift where youth view the Dunya as a temporary passage rather than the destination and building healthy attachment to the world, practice their Shahadah and belief with pride as their foundational life compass, navigate hardships with purpose and patience, view Tawbah as bridge of returning to Allah, and live intentionally to prepare for meeting Him in eternity.
What are the topics we are discussing?
Living the Legacy helps youth make sense of four key aspects:
- The Shahadah: More Than a Testimony
The camp begins with the core of our religion: La ilaha illallah. More than words, it is a belief that shapes how we think, choose, live, and identify ourselves. It is the key to Jannah, yet one we can take for granted.
Being born Muslim does not mean our faith will never be tested. We must constantly protect and strengthen it against doubts and the influences around us. Because when everything else fails, it is the belief in Allah and His Messenger that becomes the foundation of our path to Jannah.
- The Tests of This World: Why Am I Being Tested?
Struggles and tests in life can either make you or break you. Allah’s tests are not punishments; it is to see how His servants come back to Him. To attain His pleasure, one needs to know there is wisdom behind the test; one needs to understand what Shaytan is trying to achieve too. When life becomes difficult, it can be easy to question Allah or blame Him for what we are going through.
By learning to see the struggles through the lens of purpose, perseverance, and seeking Allah’s pleasure, the way we experience hardship changes. These struggles and tests are the steps towards attaining Jannah.
- Tawbah: When You Fall, Return
Failing a test does not mean failing Allah. No matter how far we fall, the door to Allah remains open. To be a stronger Muslim, one must know the essence of Tawbah, the danger of losing hope in Allah, and how Shaytan uses hopelessness to keep us away from Him. By learning how to think well of Allah, taking accountability and allowing the heart to return, a Muslim returns to Him. When we lose our way, Tawbah is the tool to reroute towards the path of Jannah.
- Meeting Allah: Preparing for the Final Journey
Allah’s doors of forgiveness are not closed on us; we close the doors to Him. Understanding how the Prophet ﷺ and his companions viewed death and the Hereafter and how to build a healthy relationship with the Dunya. Rather than allowing death to become something we fear, remembering death must become a compass for life. When we know that we will eventually meet Allah, the distractions and attachments of this world begin to fall into their proper place. Meeting Allah is destiny, and the compass that guides us on our journey towards Jannah.
